This 1204M-4201 controller assemblage is a completed electric vehicle DC Series Motor control system, with components mounted on a heat-sink aluminium alloy installation plate. The assemblage includes:

Overview
CURTIS 1204M programmable series motor controllers are designed to provide smooth, silent, cost-effective control of motor speed and torque. 1204M controllers are updated versions of the popular 1204 controllers, with the added functionality of being programmable-via the CURTIS Model 1313-4331 Handheld Programmer or 1314 PC Programming Station. This means the controllers can be tailored to the needs of specific applications. In addition to configuration flexibility, use of the programmer offers diagnostic and test capability.
CURTIS 1204M controllers are the ideal solution for a variety of electric vehicle applications, including industrial trucks, personnel carriers, material handing vehicles, golf cars, etc.
Wiring Diagram:
In this assemblage, the J5 terminal of new 1204M controllers is not activated. The controller wiring is same to the old 1204M controllers without J5 terminal.

Features Include:
- Regenerative braking, providing longer operation on a single battery charge and reducing motor brush wear and motor heating
- Adjustable brake rates, for smooth pedal-release braking
- Two user-selectable vehicle operating personalities, with vehicle top speed controlled and limited in each mode
- Motor parameters are programmable to match the characteristics of the specific motor being used
- Vehicle speed control is enhanced through feedback from a Hall effect speed sensor
- Anti-rollback function, providing improved control when throttle is released on hills
- Anti-stall function helps prevent motor commutator damage
- High pedal disable (HPD) and static return to off (SRO) interlocks prevent vehicle runaway at startup
- Complete diagnostics through CURTIS 1313-4331 Handheld Programmer or 1314 PC Programming Station and through the built-in Status LED, for quick and easy testing, diagnostics, and parameter adjustment
- WalkAway™ braking feature limits any stopped or key-off rolling to a very low speed
- Auxiliary driver can be programmed for either an electromagnetic (EM) brake or a WalkAway™ relay
- Coil driver provides adjustable pull-in and holding voltages to WalkAway™ relay or EM brake
- Two fault outputs provide diagnostics to remotely mounted displays
- Reverse signal driver provides a low signal any time the vehicle is traveling in reverse
- Driver outputs are short circuit protected and provide built-in coil spike protection
- Brake/Drive Interlock meets ISO stopping distance requirements
- Warning buzzer sounds steady in reverse, intermittent during WalkAway™ braking
- Splash resistant plastic cover
- Meets or exceeds EEC fault detect requirements
